Debrah: Very fine presentation; thank you.
In addition to David's very important response, I would like us to consider the following --and I have been involved in this debate, on and off, over some 30 years, and I have never ever seen "the other camp" prevail in a discussion with a circumspect, seasoned astrologer:
1. Scientists look for the simplistic generaltiy; i.e., they don't know what is possible, even routine, with astrology; conversely, what is simple to us is technical and beyond reach to them. --Something like "all people born with the Sun in Pisces like fish" is not necessarily your most finest hypothesis.
2. Scientific Method ordains that measurements and results correspond every time. While astrology indeed uses scientific measurements, it is not a science; it is a humanistic art form, just as are psychology, theology, and therapies of all kinds.
4. What these supposedly scientific tests look for is not what astrology does; again a misconception from one field is used to demean unrecognized conceptions of another.
5. Those who participate in these tests are almost invariably friends or friends of friends, hobbyist astrologers known to someone close to the scientific "camp." --One of major critics in America 25 years ago (a man I debated many times on national television and local programs as well) was married to an astrologer! She was very much the basis of his attack. The marriage ended shortly after the inquiry.
6. There are plenty of astrologers in the United Kingdom who can take care of themselves and this biased inquiry.
7. Since I am presenting seminars in Scotland in mid-September, in Edinburgh, I would be happy for one or more of the testers to make an appointment with me. My fee there is 100 Pounds.
