OCTOBER WAS A DIFFICULT month for the panel industry with all four leading Taiwan-based liquid-crystal-display (LCD) panel makers reporting a month-over-month sales decline. Sales in aggregate fell by 6.7% month-over-month and worse than the three-year average decrease of 2%.
After eight consecutive months of rising sales, the leading Taiwan panel makers experienced the first month-over-month sales decline since January 2009. In fact, this was the longest winning streak since the run from March 2007 through October 2007
