另回覆mandy：您應該目前在美國工作，我打算出國去脫層皮，即使是hell也要撩下去了，只是我的個性未計成先算敗，做事先考慮投資報酬率，希望這個決定不會讓我後悔，也是怕申請不到好學校，我牽掛的事情太多，擔心家人，考慮太太的感受，還有生活的擔子，在這個十字路口上真的很徬徨。
I undertsand your concern. If you plan to stay in US, do keep in mind that the US job market, be it in academia or industry, is pretty bleak right now. The Bush admin is no help to boost the job market. Having said that, earning a Ph.D. is no gurantee of getting a better job in the future. The academic job market, likewise, is fiercely competitive. The job market may turn out to be great right after you graduate, but you never know. Most of the biotech Ph.Ds started out as a postdoc, making next to nothing. Hence, there is a possibility that you will experience a pay cut for a while before making "real" money. It is a gamble.
