Any experience on team work ? Pleaes share your experience on team work, bad or good !!

My personal team work experience when receiving education in Taiwan:

1, 3000 meter relay
2. baseball and basketball games
3. "Pulling river" game---two groups of people fighting on the two ends of ropes
4. College team term papers
5. Mititary tests

What did I leran from those experience:
(1.2.3).
1.Just for fun, no real interst conflict
so, who do really care about the results ?
2 no oral communication required, so no communication skills acquired


4. Everybody is either preparing the graduate school entrance exam or Tofel and GRE, So, people who do care about the grades will do most of the job. We did have built a team but not everyone share the team responsibilities as a team member.

5.Power is everything. That my effort to pass the test does not mean I love the team that I am in. My effort may just, in a way, allow me not to be punished or disparaged.

Conclusion:

I did not learn much in the spirit of team work when I was in Taiwan.
But when I began to work, I found out that the skills to work in a team was more important than other skills or knowledge I learn in school. To make things worse, I found out most of my collegues were on the same boat with me. They also have very bad team work skills. The results: Whatever the boss wants us to do, we just try to make it happen even we know it might not be cost effective or valid way of doing things. Then......

Right now, I am educating my 2 years old son. And I am thinking about how to instill the team concept into his mind.

One day, I will tell him:

Tiger is strong but can not migrate in a long journey and it's view is very limited.

Canada goose is not aggresive but it can fly a long way and has wider view than that of Tiger.

As a Taiwanese, I am wondering if I have the strength and resource to be a tiger.
But I know I would rather to be one in a flock of canada geese.
