You may be right about over US having too much confidence in the war. However, I don't agree with your view that US lacks the technology to swiftly end the war. The problem is that US has humanitarian issues ( the need to decrease death of civilians in Iraq). Many US soldiers were given orders to not to shoot at cilivians unless shoot at. US can use all air bombings and mass destructive weapons to reach 0 US death and a flat Iraq, but it CHOOSE not to do so. Another problem that US and Bush has is that it is TOO DIRECT in its position and strategy. They should try to use more of Chinese Suan-Zu military strategy; think Saddam is pretty good at using Psychological war to play the victim here. He could have used an opposition within Iraq, an Iraqi, to push Saddam over, which would not involve much US lives.
